For men, the number one reason was …. SEX.
“What Men Won’t Tell Women About Sex” covers what men wished women knew concerning sex but feel they can’t tell them directly. Here's what you need to know to Stop a breakup in its tracks
Hi, I'm Dr. E. Alexander
Through my practice I have counseled hundreds of couples about making a relationship work. The high occurrence of divorce indicates that there are widespread contributing factors that are real, present and capable of affecting the success or breakup of a relationship. Not to mention the fact that the majority of solid well matched couples never make it to the marriage stage. You have to ask yourself WHY? For men, the number one reason was sex.
In 2002 I began work on a five year study called The Couples Project. The study focused on relationships and why some don’t last, in particular focusing on men and sex. Some of the conclusions reached were unexpected.
For instance, men generally indicated that sex was at the top of their list when it came to a happy relationship. Sex was also at the top of their list when it comes to why they break up. But at the same time, 89% of men indicated that their partner did not really know them when it comes to sexuality. Men also indicated that when they initiated a break up in a relationship, they usually disguised the reason for the breakup if it had to do with sex. And most important; they felt they could not discuss the topic of sex honestly with their partner.
The conclusions from the study were named “What Men Won’t Tell Women About Sex”, and perhaps making things more difficult, wished women knew. Over 500 men participated in this study and were asked very specific details as to what makes or breaks a relationship when it comes to sex. Men sexuality and cheating man are not one and the same according to the study.
